My kids love being physically active when it is fun. They do not even realize they are getting exercise which is great for me as a parent, LESS WORK NEEDED to encourage them to participate!

Also, it gets my daughter away from watching television and using the IPad. I need to keep control over that or the time can get away quickly.

If your kids are like my kids, then I understand the challenges you face in motivating them to put down the IPad, turn off the TV and participate in physical activities.

It is why I am sharing my secrets with you today in the hope you find it helpful. My secrets are 7 indoor options I use for fun physical activities for kids. Let’s begin by looking at dancing.

Dancing

My kids loving dancing, they spend hours every day with their mother dancing to songs. Both are quickly becoming very excellent dancers. – dance to any type of music

It is a great workout for my kids. Your kids whether naturally gifted at it or not will benefit also from the exercise they receive by doing it. The whole body is used, every last muscle.

My kids get lots of fun out of doing. Spend a lot of time laughing while dancing which is another benefit. Your kids also will get this benefit.

Encourage them by joining in with your kids even if you are not naturally a dancer.

I am terrible dancer but shake and move to music the best way I know how.

At my worst they still love it when I do or laugh at how bad I am haha!

NEXT ACTIVITY: SCOOTER

Scooter

Yes you read that right. I am recommending this activity for indoors. Our home is not very big but they find a way to get around despite this zooming along and enjoying it.

It is a great activity because it helps develop balance in your child.

My kids do it daily, my eldest has been doing it now for 4 years or more.

She also has been teaching my youngest since he was old enough to stand on the scooter how to use it. She has two and he uses the smaller one. He is two and I know it won’t be long before he will be going solo. Its incredible actually. He is getting the balance down and already has immense strength for his age.

I encourage you to check out the scooter below. It is a great activity for indoors that your kids will love. It is the same as my daughters first scooter. Paid much more than the listed price by Amazon and it was the best purchase I have ever made. I highly recommend it.

NEXT ACTIVITY: PLAYING CATCH

Playing Catch

We often play catch with different items around the home but are sure to use soft items so if something gets bumped it will not be broken. (soft items to be specific)

This is obvious but playing catch helps develop hand eye coordination which is important for many things.

Both my kids enjoy it, even my youngest loves throwing things and when encouraged can throw towards another person.

Most kids enjoy playing catch so include it in your indoor activities.

As always be careful of the area you are doing this activity as something could get broke.

NEXT ACTIVITY: MINI STICK HOCKEY

Mini Stick Hockey

Being a Canadian this is a natural selection for me. It may not be for you but is a most enjoyable game you and your kids can play indoors year round.

I grew up playing with mini sticks in hockey in my home by spending countless hours doing it.

Just be certain your children are old enough to understand the stick can be dangerous if they use it to hit another person by accident.

I recommend you try it out. Your kids will thank you!

Check it out here!

NEXT ACTIVITY: SOCCER

Soccer

Another great game to play indoors with the kids is soccer. Any soft ball will do so your kids won’t be able to break anything.

My kids love kicking the ball around so soccer is right up there with activities they enjoy and have fun playing.

It is easy to set up goal posts using items such as shoes. We even used our hallway and tried to get the ball past each other.

Great times which I recommend you try with your children.

NEXT ACTIVITY: BASKETBALL

Basketball

Shooting hopes is another great indoor activity to do with your kids or them by themselves.

Again your kids will develop their hand eye coordination while playing it.

A few games you can teach your kids include

  • fun playing games like 21
  • seeing how many in a row you can make
  • crazy shots from hard to make places

My kids imaginations are always at work and come up with creative games all the time. Your kids will to and get extensive use out of indoor basketball. Many hours will be spent by your kids playing.

NEXT ACTIVITY: NURF FOOTBALL

Nerf Football

A great game for indoor activities is Nerf football.

Allows your kids to practice passing and improve hand eye coordination.

My kids love flying balls and I am sure yours will too.

It is easy to do and lots of fun for all.

As with the other indoor activities be sure you do it in an area where nothing will be broken, basements are good for this.

Conclusion

I hope this post has given you some ideas and help on fun activities you and your children can do indoors anytime.

Just because your children are indoors is no reason for them not to enjoy fun physical activities.

Your kids will be able to have fun, improve their coordination and teamwork skills while indoors.

Get creative and also buy through the links from Amazon, games to play with your kids.

They will thank you!

Jody
